ABOUT MATTHEW

Matthew Winner is an educator, an innovator, and an agent of change.

As Head of Podcasts at A Kids Co., he led the company in creating a first-of-its-kind kids podcast network that included 13 original shows made to empower and talk up to kids. The diverse set of hosts included journalists, musicians, educators, and one exceptionally talented 9-year-old. The shows received national and global recognition, including being named Common Sense Selections (this show AND this show) and the Apple Podcast Best of 2021 list (holding the distinct honor of being the first time Apple Podcasts has awarded a podcast made for kids).

Matthew has spent 15+ years in education, first as a classroom teacher in an elementary school and then as an elementary school librarian. He was a Master Teacher for the state of Maryland from 2010-2012. In 2013 Matthew was named a Library Journal Mover & Shaker and was invited to the White House as part of the Champions of Change program.

Matthew founded and hosts The Children's Book Podcast, a weekly podcast featuring insightful and sincere interviews with authors, illustrators, and everyone involved in taking a book from drawing board to bookshelf.

When asked of his work and what he does for a living, Matthew's daughter, who was 6 at the time, shared, "My daddy does a podcast. He tries to do it. He has a chair."
